At Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, studies are being continued in the direction of studying the potential of ecotourism

An important scientific innovation has been achieved as a result of scientific-research works conducted in the "Ecological geography" department of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS in the direction of researching the ecosystems of the northwestern region and studying the potential of ecotourism.

Thus, in August 2023, during the monitoring carried out by the employees of "Ecological Geography" department, the "Meshebashi" waterfall, located on the right bank of the Damarchin branch of the Kish River, was recorded. According to Yusif Rahimov, the head of "Ecological Geography" department, this waterfall, called "Meshebashi" by the local population, is located at an altitude of 1696 m above sea level, falls from a height of 13 meters, and has not yet been recorded in scientific sources. Meshebashi waterfall is a promising natural monument for the development of ecotourism in the region, in addition to its abundance of water. Meshebashi waterfall was recorded by Gafgaz Agabalayev, Ph.D. in geography, the leading researcher of "Ecological Geography" department of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS in 2023 during the research conducted on the Kish River and its tributaries.
