Powerful water flooded through the Shin River on October 3. Qafqaz Aghabalayev, head of the department of Ecological geography and PhD in geography reported the event.
According to the report, the flood was triggered by heavy rainfall. The flood flow moving along the riverbed measured approximately 60–70 meters in width and 6–7 meters in height.
The dimensions of the flood were determined using special markers previously installed along the riverbed by staff from the department of Ecological geography.
The powerful flood caused the riverbed to deepen by 2.5 meters in the central section and 0.90 meters near the banks, while also causing lateral erosion along the shoreline.
As a result of the floodwaters violently striking certain sections of the bank, erosion and structural collapse extending up to 7–8 meters were observed in those areas.
