On July 16, 2026, a commemorative event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of journalist and Arabist Mahammad Shabanoglu was held in Zagatala, at the initiative of Akif Mammadli, an employee of Shaki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, PhD, organized by poet Nusret Musa and with the participation of regional writers.

At the event, views were exchanged on Mahammad Shabanoglu's rich creative heritage, his services in the field of journalism and Arab studies, his memory was honored, and the directions of future research of his heritage were discussed.

Speaking at the event, Akif Mammadli brought to the attention of the participants the proposals and recommendations of the director of Shaki Regional Scientific Center, Doctor of Philology, docent Kamil Adishirinov regarding the scientific study of Mahammad Shabanoglu's creativity, systematic study of his heritage and its transmission to future generations.

During the speeches, regional writers expressed their gratitude, highly appreciating the care shown to literature by the leadership of the Sheki Regional Scientific Center and the support given to the study of the legacy of Mahammad Shabanoglu.
