On July 10, 2026, with the organization of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS and the support of Sheki city I. Nakam Central Library, within the framework of the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the celebration of the 900th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Khagani Shirvani" and the relevant decision of the Presidium of ANAS, a round table on the topic "The rising sun of classical poetry from Shamakhi - Khagani Shirvani" was held.
The event was attended by the employees of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, the staff of Sheki city I. Nakam Central Library, city intellectuals and literature lovers.
Opening the event, the director of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, Doctor of Philology, docent Kamil Adishirinov gave a comprehensive report on the topic "The place and role of Khagani Shirvani in the 12th century Azerbaijani poetry". He noted that Khagani Shirvani, being one of the most prominent word masters of the 12th century Azerbaijani Renaissance, gained a unique position in Eastern literature with his rich artistic and philosophical heritage and high poetic artistry. The speaker noted that the poet's creative work, in addition to reflecting the socio-political, philosophical and spiritual environment of the period, glorified universal ideas, values such as humanism, justice, science and spiritual perfection.
He especially emphasized Khagani Shirvani's contributions to the development of classical traditions in Azerbaijani poetry, his services in enriching the poetic language, improving the means of artistic description and expression, developing the qasida and ghazal genres, and the poet's work influenced many Azerbaijani and Eastern poets who grew up in later periods.
The event heard a report by poet Almaz Mammadova on the topic "Khagani Shirvani and the palace environment". In his speech, he spoke about the socio-political environment in which Khagani Shirvani lived and created, his relations with the Shirvanshahs' palace, and the influence of this environment on the poet's creativity. It was noted that despite Khagani Shirvani's activity in the palace environment, his works reflected the social contradictions of the time, moral and ethical problems, and philosophical thoughts about human destiny with high artistic skill.
Tarana Abdullayeva, a research worker in the Literary and Cultural Environment and Folklore department of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, spoke on the topic "Moral and Exhortative Motifs in Khagani Shirvani's Creativity". The speaker noted that moral and philosophical thoughts occupy a leading place in Khagani Shirvani's poetic heritage. She noted that the poet glorified the spiritual perfection of man, such supreme values as conscience, mercy, justice, and kindness with high artistry. Tarana Abdullayeva noted that Khagani's admonishing thoughts have retained their importance not only for his time, but also for modern society. The speaker noted that the expression of spiritual values in the poet's work from an artistic and philosophical perspective is one of the main aspects characterizing his artistic power. At the end, an exchange of views was held around the reports, and it was noted that the study, promotion and transmission of the heritage of Khagani Shirvani to future generations is one of the important directions of Azerbaijani literary criticism.
