On June 1, 2026, employees of the department of Historical Ethnology of the Institute of History and Ethnology of ANAS - Doctors of Philosophy in History, docent Ilhama Mammadova, PhD in history Tahir Shahbazov, Tarana Guluzade and Nigar Joshkunlu, as well as Gulnar Tagiyeva visited Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS as part of a scientific expedition organized to collect materials on the ethnography of Sheki.

The main goal of the expedition was to study the material and spiritual cultural heritage of the city of Sheki, traditional life, family-household relations, examples of folk crafts, ethnocultural features and modern ethnographic processes, and to collect scientific materials on this field.

As part of the trip, the expedition members were the director of the Sheki Regional Scientific Center, Doctor of Philology, docent Kamil Adishirinov, head of the department of History and Epigraphy, PhD in history Rahim Hasanov, head of the Mulberry Silkworm Breeding department, PhD in biology, docent Gudurat Bakirov and other scientists.

During the meeting, a wide exchange of views was held on the historical and ethnographic features of Sheki, scientific research conducted in the region, especially scientific work carried out in the field of sericulture and mulberry silkworm breeding, as well as prospects for future cooperation. It was noted that sericulture, in addition to being one of the traditional economic sectors of the Sheki region, plays an important role in the socio-economic and cultural development of the region, and the study of this field is of particular importance for ethnographic research.

Finally, the importance of expanding scientific cooperation in the direction of studying, preserving and passing on to future generations the ethnographic heritage, including the traditions of sericulture, was emphasized.
