The proclamation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on May 28, 1918, was an important historical event in terms of the triumph of the ideals of national freedom and independence of our people, the restoration and development of our statehood traditions. The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which went down in history as the first parliamentary democratic republic in the East, took important steps in a short time towards the formation of the national identity of our people, the formation of democratic values, and the establishment of modern statehood principles. Undoubtedly, the reforms implemented by the Republic had an unparalleled impact on the realization of our people's dreams of freedom, independence, and national sovereignty during the 70 years of Soviet rule.

After the restoration of our independence, the rich state-building policy implemented by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the direction of strengthening the sovereignty of our country and developing our statehood has created a solid foundation for the sustainable development of Azerbaijan. This political course was successfully continued by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, with the historical victories gained during the Patriotic War and local anti-terrorist measures, the state sovereignty of Azerbaijan was fully restored, and our state flag was raised throughout the country. This magnificent victory is an unparalleled event that entered the history of Azerbaijan, which has a rich statehood for centuries, with the name of President Ilham Aliyev.

Undoubtedly, today Azerbaijan has become one of the countries that have a say not only in the region, but also in the whole world, and the fact that it hosts UN-level conferences and forums at a high level is a clear indication of this.

Today, the staff of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences is also working tirelessly for the development of our state, sparing no effort for the further strengthening of our state independence and the protection of our national and spiritual values.
