The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played. The dear memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, the figures of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, as well as the sons of the Motherland who gave their lives for the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of our lands was commemorated.

At the event, the head of the Department of History and Epigraphy, Doctor of Philosophy in History Rahim Hasanov made a report on the topic "The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is the legal basis of our national identity".

He noted that both political and literary and cultural figures played an important role in the creation and formation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. He spoke about the fact that the prominent political leaders of the period laid the foundation for independent statehood by realizing the ideas of national freedom of the people, and that intellectuals and writers made great contributions to the formation of national consciousness and strengthening the spirit of patriotism.

Rahim Hasanov emphasized that the well-known literary and educational figures of the time - Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh, Hasan bey Zardabi, Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Ahmad Javad and other intellectuals - widely promoted the ideas of national unity, freedom and independence in their works, and drew attention to the important role their creativity played in strengthening the people's sense of national self-awareness and spreading the ideas of independence.

He noted that Mammad Amin Rasulzadeh was one of the prominent leaders who brought the ideas of national thought and Azerbaijaniism put forward by Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh to the political level, and he developed the idea of national statehood and raised it to the level of a political movement, as a result of which the ideological basis leading to the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was formed.

Speakers at the event congratulated the participants on May 28 Independence Day and spoke about the important role of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in our history, the preservation and development of statehood traditions, and the importance of our independence.
