An event dedicated to the 900th anniversary of Khagani Shirvani was held in Sheki

On May 22, 2026, employees of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS participated and delivered speeches at the event “Khagani one day will come and the world will remember you” dedicated to the 900th anniversary of Khagani Shirvani, organized by Sheki city library branch No. 7 of the MCS.

Acting director of Sheki RSC, Doctor of Philology, docent Kamil Adishirinov delivered a speech entitled “Khagani's legacy is a treasure trove of words and wisdom that transcends centuries.”

The speaker spoke about the exceptional position of Khagani Shirvani in Azerbaijani and Eastern literature, emphasizing that his rich poetic heritage has maintained its relevance for centuries. He noted that Khagani's work is distinguished not only by its high artistic and aesthetic value, but also by its deep philosophical content, call for science, spiritual perfection and humanistic values.

Kamil Adishirinov noted that Khagani's rich scientific and literary worldview is clearly expressed in his works, and that the study and promotion of our classical heritage is of great importance in terms of conveying our national and spiritual values to future generations.

Tural Ahmadov, director of Sheki city I. Nakam library, Elshan Zakariyyabayli, director of Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh House-Museum, Agali Jalilov, director of Sheki city Cultural Center, Aydin Mammadov, curator of Sabit Rahman House-Museum, poets Musa Hashimov, Zaur Ilhamoglu, and Gulara Inji also spoke at the event.

The speakers emphasized that themes such as love for the homeland, the spiritual world of man, and attitude towards society are widely covered in Khagani Shirvani's works, and stated that such events play an important role in increasing young people's interest in classical literature, strengthening their sense of attachment to the national literary heritage, and educating them.

Ghazals from the poet's work were also sung at the event, and musical numbers were presented.

At the end of the event, an exchange of views was held around the tea table, discussions continued on the literary heritage of Khagani Shirvani, and commemorative photos were taken with the participants.
