A scientific seminar on the topic "The Great Patriotic War is a bright page in the cronicle of courage and heroism of our people" was held in Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS on May 6, 2026, dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the historical victory over German fascism.

In the event the memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, the sons of the Motherland who gave their lives for the territorial integrity and independence of our lands, the victims of the Great Patriotic War and  PhD in Physics, docent Yusif Shukurlu were commemorated.

The meeting was opened by the acting director of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, PhD in Physics, docent Kamil Adishirinov, and spoke about the importance of the seminar. He congratulated the participants on May 9, Victory Day, and wished success in the work of the seminar.

Elchin Valiyev, a scientific worker of the department of History and Epigraphy of Sheki RSC, made a speech at the seminar on the topic "The place and role of Azerbaijan in the victory over fascism."

The speaker spoke extensively about the courage and sacrifice shown by Azerbaijanis both on the front and in the rear during the Great Patriotic War. He noted that Azerbaijani servicemen actively participated in the battles for Stalingrad, Ukraine, Poland and Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Italy, France and the North Caucasus, showing great examples of heroism.

He noted that not only Azerbaijani men, but also women played an important role in the course of the war, serving at the front as snipers, pilots and medics.

In conclusion, Elchin Valiyev emphasized that the heroic traditions shown by our people throughout history are continued today. He noted that in modern times, the Azerbaijani people, leader and army have demonstrated the same unity and determination, restoring the country's independence and territorial integrity. The speaker especially drew attention to the importance of the younger generation drawing conclusions from this historical heritage and growing up in the spirit of patriotism.

Later, the head of the Department of History and Epigraphy of the Sheki RSC, Doctor of Philosophy in History Rahim Hasanov, delivered a report on the topic “Sheki people the front and rear during the Great Patriotic War: historical analysis”.

In his speech, the speaker spoke about the courage shown by thousands of people from the Sheki region who went to the front during the Great Patriotic War, and provided detailed information about the battles they fought on various fronts and the successes they achieved.

He also spoke about the Sheki fighters, military doctors and medical workers who were awarded orders and medals, emphasizing that their memory is always held high by our people.

He emphasized that this courage shown both on the front and rear, in addition to being an example of patriotism for future generations, should also be constantly studied and promoted.

Finally, a report by Kamil Adishirinov, PhD in phil. spoke on the topic “Literature during the Great Patriotic War”.

The speaker spoke about the role of literature on the ideological and moral front during the war years, emphasizing that the motifs of patriotism, heroism, and self-sacrifice were widely present in the works of Azerbaijani poets and writers who wrote and created during that period.

The associate professor noted that wartime literature played an important role in maintaining the high morale of the people and strengthening the fighters' faith in victory.

Kamil Adishirinov noted that the poems, stories, and journalistic examples written during those years still retain their importance in the formation of historical memory today.
