In his interview, Akif Mammadli said that the monument, which dates back to the early Middle Ages, is of great historical and architectural importance and is considered a valuable source for studying the ancient history of the region.
He also noted that archaeological excavations were conducted in the temple area in 2017–2021 under the leadership of archaeologist Natig Alyshov, and during the research, the constructive features of the monument, construction materials, as well as material and cultural samples of the period were examined.
The scientist emphasized that the scientific research currently being carried out by Sheki RSC towards the study and protection of historical monuments shows that the Tulu temple is also of great importance in terms of studying the architectural heritage of the early Christian period of the region.
