On January 7, 2026, Elvin Garayev, an employee of the Ecological Geography Department of Sheki RSC, carried out complex monitoring work in the areas of the Halchaly branch of the Shin River and the Halchaly valley, located approximately 7.5–8 km northeast of the village of Shin. The study areas covered various points located at an altitude of approximately 1579–1630 m above sea level.

During the monitoring, the main attention was paid to studying the current state of surface and linear erosion processes. For this purpose, appropriate measurement and observation work was carried out in the area. During the studies, facts of thinning of the forest cover as a result of both natural factors and anthropogenic influences were recorded on the mountain slopes located near the Halchaly glade.

At the same time, when comparing the southern and northern slopes of the Halchali Valley, it was observed that there were significant differences in terms of forest cover density and general condition.

It should be noted that the results obtained are important in terms of studying the physical and geographical conditions of the area, the mutual relationships between natural components, and the spatial variability of the natural environment, and serve as an important basis for future research.
