A scientific-practical conference entitled "The founder of Azerbaijani petrochemistry: Yusif Mammadaliyev" was held on December 26, 2025, jointly organized by Sheki City Executive Power, Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS and Sheki City Heydar Aliyev Center, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the academician Yusif Mammadaliyev.

Representatives of scientific and educational institutions, scientists, young researchers and students participated in the conference.

Moderator Khumar Musayeva, an employee of Sheki City Heydar Aliyev Center, stated that the main purpose of holding the event was to recall Yusif Mammadaliyev's unparalleled contributions to the development of Azerbaijani science, especially the petrochemical sector, and to promote the scientist's scientific heritage among the younger generation, and gave the floor to Khayala Tohrabli, head of the department of Socio-political and humanitarian issues of the deputy head of Sheki City Executive Power.

Khayala Tohrabli greeted the conference participants. She said that Yusif Mammadaliyev is a prominent scientist known not only in Azerbaijan but also worldwide, and provided detailed information about the research he conducted in the field of petrochemicals in our country, his scientific achievements, and the scientific personnel he trained.

The speaker emphasized that such events are of great importance in terms of promoting Azerbaijani science and increasing young people's interest in science, and wished success to the work of the conference.

Director of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, PhD in physics, docent Yusif Shukurlu delivered a comprehensive report on the topic "Azerbaijani scientist who changed the fate of the fight against German fascism: Yusif Mammadaliyev". He noted that academician Yusif Mammadaliyev left his mark in history as a scientist who played an important role in the fight against German fascism, and his scientific activity was focused on the development of fuel and lubricants, one of the strategic areas that influenced the fate of the war.

The director noted that during the war, there was a great need for high-quality fuels and lubricants for the uninterrupted operation of military equipment, and that special types of fuels and additives for aviation and military equipment were developed under the leadership and direct participation of Yusif Mammadaliyev, and at the same time, all this played an important role in ensuring the technical superiority of the Soviet army.

Yusif Shukurlu added that precisely for his tireless scientific activity and scientific contributions, Yusif Mammadaliyev should be evaluated not only as a laboratory scientist, but also as a personality who influenced the course of history with his scientific knowledge.

Vafa Atayeva, Scientific Secretary of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, in her report on "The Role of Yusif Mammadaliyev in Oil and Gas Chemistry and Technology", emphasized that Yusif Mammadaliyev, who made great contributions to the development of chemical science, created a strong scientific school. He noted that the scientist's research on catalytic processes, high-octane fuels and the production of synthetic materials was widely applied in the petrochemical industry, and Yusif Mammadaliyev's scientific activities allowed for increasing the efficiency of production and processing processes, as well as the formation of modern oil and gas technologies. He noted that Yusif Mammadaliyev's scientific heritage still plays an important scientific basis for specialists working in the field of oil and gas chemistry today.
