On December 02, 2025, the next Scientific Council meeting was held at Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS.

The meeting was attended by 14 members of the Scientific Council, heads of departments, and scientific workers.

Opening the meeting, the director of Sheki RSC, PhD, docent Yusif Shukurlu introduced the participants to the issues on the agenda, and the agenda was put to a vote and approved.

The first item on the agenda was "On the tasks arising from the implementation of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress" in ANAS, on the decisions of the Presidium of ANAS No. 19/1 dated October 31, 2025 and No. 24/1 dated November 26, 2025 on the approval of the action plan" - Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of Sheki RSC, PhD, docent Kamil Adishirinov reported. He noted that in accordance with the tasks arising from the relevant Order of the President, proposals for the preparation of an action plan for scientific departments, regional scientific departments and centers, scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS have been prepared by Sheki RSC. He brought to the attention that the proposal submitted to the Presidium of ANAS on "investigating the antiquity of the historical roots of some toponyms in the North-West region, taking into account the reflection of the antiquity of Turkism in toponomic features" has been included in the action plan of ANAS, and that it is planned to hold a scientific seminar on the topic "Toponymic features of the city of Sheki and its environs" at Sheki RSC in connection with this proposal.

Considering that this topic is of particular importance in terms of wide discussion and informing the scientific community, the Scientific Council decided to hold the seminar in the third decade of December.

Namig Abdurahmanov, head of the Electronic Services department, voiced the second issue on the agenda - the "Decision of the Presidium of ANAS No. 20/2 of Sheki RSC dated November 12, 2025 on expanding the areas of activity of the Electronic Services Departments of scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS".

Taking into account the requirements arising from the implementation of the decision, the Scientific Council of Sheki Regional Scientific Center adopted a decision to carry out the relevant structural changes. Thus, it was decided to replace the name of the existing Electronic Services Department with the name of the “Digital Technology and Electronic Services” Department in order to adapt it to modern digital development trends and to operate as the main department.

Then, in accordance with the agenda of the meeting, elections were held for the positions of head and scientific worker of the Department of Archaeology and Ethnography. The voting process was conducted secretly and the results were recorded. According to the results, Elshan Abdurahmanov was elected as the head of the Department of Archaeology and Ethnography, and Aygul Khalilova was elected as the scientific worker.
