On October 17, 2025, a festive event was held at Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS on the occasion of the Day of Restoration of State Independence.

The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

The dear memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan were commemorated with a minute of silence.

Opening the event, the director of Sheki RSC, PhD in Physics, docent Yusif Shukurlu, greeted the guests and participants, noted that the restoration of Azerbaijan's state independence was the beginning of a new stage in the political, economic and social life of the country, that under the leadership of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, the state-building process was strengthened, international relations were expanded and national security was ensured, wished success to the event and gave the floor to the head of the Department of History and Epigraphy, PhD in Physics Rahim Hasanov.

Rahim Hasanov made a detailed report on the achievement of state independence restored in difficult socio-economic conditions as a result of the desire for independence and the struggle for freedom of the Azerbaijani people, the implementation of successive reforms by Azerbaijan as a result of the successful policy pursued by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the achievement of a ceasefire in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict in a short time, and, along with this, the adoption of market economy principles in the country's economy, as a result of which our country's integration into the world economy was ensured.

He stated that the establishment of May 28 as Independence Day and October 18 as the Restoration of Independence Day is based on the fact that Azerbaijan's state sovereignty was established in 1918, and this shows that modern Azerbaijan, which has restored its territorial integrity, is the full successor of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic established in 1918.

Rahim Hasanov also noted that it is as a result of the successful leadership of the independent Azerbaijani state, which is a historical achievement of our people, for more than 20 years, by the most worthy successor of the ideas and actions of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, a world-renowned politician and statesman, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, that the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country have been restored, and we proudly celebrate this day.

At the end, a thematic video clip reflecting the historical stages that Azerbaijan has passed on the path to independence, the people's determination for freedom, and the ideas of national statehood was shown.
