A scientific-practical conference on the topic "Turkism ideology and harmony of national values in the creature of Bakhtiyar Vahabzade" was held in Zagatala

On October 14, 2025, a scientific-practical conference on the topic "Turkism ideology and harmony of national values in the creature of Bakhtiyar Vahabzade" was held within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the People's Poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzade, jointly organized by Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS and Zagatala Islamic College.

The event was attended by employees of Zagatala Museum of Local Lore, teachers and students of Zagatala Islamic College, and media representatives.

Opening the event, senior researcher of the Department of History and Epigraphy of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, PhD in history Akif Mammadli greeted the guests, wished success to the event, and stated that the main goal of the scientific-practical conference was to examine how the ideology of Turkism, national identity and values are expressed in the rich literary heritage of the People's Poet, great thinker Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh, and to analyze the embodiment of the national spirit, love of homeland and the idea of the entire Turkic world in his work on a scientific level.

He noted that the event also aims to strengthen the promotion of national thought and values in a literary context among young researchers and students.

Then, Doctor of Philosophy in Pedagogy, writer Hashim Ismayilov gave a report on the topic "Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh in Memories".

He noted that Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh is not only a great poet, publicist and scientist, but also a personality who has become a spiritual symbol of the era in which he lived. He noted that the living embodiment of the human qualities, love for the homeland and loyalty to the faith that encompass the poet's work as a whole is of great importance in educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, and that memories are of particular importance in completing the spiritual portrait of Vahabzade's work and personality.

Speaking on the topic of "Poetic embodiment of Islamic values in the work of Bakhtiyar Vahabzade", Dr. Aladdin Sultanov, a senior researcher at the Department of History and Epigraphy of Sheki RSC, said that Bakhtiyar Vahabzade's work is closely intertwined not only with national and human ideas, but also with the Islamic worldview and values, that the values that Islam gives to man, life, spirituality and justice are poetically expressed in the poet's poems, and motifs such as the purification of the soul and the spiritual perfection of man come to the fore.

The speaker Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh emphasized that Islam is not just a religious system, but an integral part of culture and national identity, a symbol of national resistance and spiritual resistance, a spiritual heritage absorbed in the memory of the people, and that religion and poetry can play an important role in society as two complementary forces in his creativity.

Later, Tarana Abdullayeva, head of the Literary and Cultural environment and folklore department of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, delivered a report entitled "From Language to Nation, Nation to Turkism - Philosophy of Identity in Vahabzadeh's Thought". The speaker mentioned that in Vahabzadeh's poems such as "Mother Language", "The Language of the Turk", "The Latin Language", as well as in the poem "Gulustan", the entire Turkic world is the bearer of one language, one soul, and one destiny, and called on Turks to unite, and that he understood Turkism as a system of spiritual, cultural, and humanistic values.

Speaking on the topic "National identity and spiritual memory in Bakhtiyar Vahabzade's poem "Mugham", Aygul Khalilova, a scientific worker of the Department of Archaeology and Ethnography of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, commented that the concept of national identity is presented in the poet's poem "Mugham" with deep philosophical and poetic layers, that he perceives mugham not only as a musical genre, but also as a spiritual symbol expressing the memory, pain, soul and historical identity of the people, and that mugham is presented in the work as a spiritual center that arises from within the people and keeps them alive, a spiritual value that connects the people to their roots and makes them understand their national existence.

She noted that the power of Vahabzade's poem "Mugham" also lies in the fact that it creates a bridge between music and national identity and highlights the importance of preserving cultural heritage through the power of the literary word.

The scientific-practical conference continued its work with discussions.

In the end, deputy director for scientific affairs of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, Doctor of Philology, docent  Kamil Adshirinov made a speech and noted that the exchange of ideas around the great writer's creativity, the contributions to the themes of Turkism ideology, national identity and harmony of Islamic values in his poetry were valuable. He stated that Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh was not only a poet, but also a national memory, a symbol of spiritual resistance, and a teacher of thought, and expressed that the spirit in the poet's words sounded like the voice of a nation standing at the crossroads of the past and the future, and that he believed that the ideas expressed and the speeches presented at the event would pave the way for new research and would contribute to the development of national literary thought.
