A literary and artistic evening entitled "Architect of our Music" was held in Sheki

On October 9, 2025, a literary and artistic evening entitled "Architect of our Music" was held at the Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh House Museum, jointly organized by Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS and the "Naringala" city Folklore House, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the outstanding composer, founder of our national opera Uzeyir Hajibeyli.

The event was attended by employees of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, the staff of the "Naringala" city Folklore House, teachers and students of Sheki State Regional College, and mothers of martyrs.

The dear memory of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and the sons of the Motherland who gave their lives for the integrity and sovereignty of our lands were commemorated with respect.

Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of Shaki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, Doctor of Philology, docent Kamil Adshirinov made a speech and said that Uzeyir Hajibeyli is a genius who gave the basic principles to the musical culture of Azerbaijan. He noted that Uzeyir bey's opera "Leyli and Majnun" is a revolution in the cultural life of our people, and the works of the composer, who presented mugham and classical music in unity in his works, have become the voice of our national identity. The speaker said that the basis of the recognition of Azerbaijani national music in the world is the solid foundation created by Uzeyir Hajibeyli.

Then, Habil Khalilov, an employee of the Department of Archaeology and Ethnography of Shaki Regional Scientific Center, made a speech. He spoke about the fact that Uzeyir Hajibeyli's music nourishes the soul by combining not only national, but also universal values, and emphasized that his rich heritage is an invaluable example for the music community and the younger generation.

The event featured Uzeyir Hajibeyli's "Koroglu" overture, the romances "Sensiz", "Sevgili Janan", and excerpts from his work "Arshin mal alan".

The literary and artistic evening was enriched by performances by the young singer Sarkhan Huseynli, teachers and students of the Sheki Music College, and was met with interest by the event participants.
