On July 19, 2025, a scientific seminar on the topic "Spiritual heritage, cultural and historical monuments of Northwestern Azerbaijan" was held in Gabala district with the joint support of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS and the Public Union for Intellectual Development.
Opening the event, the head of the Public Union for Intellectual Development, Rashad Abdullayev, greeted the guests and drew attention to the important goal of introducing the material and cultural heritage of the northwestern region and instilling it in future generations, and gave the floor to Elchin Valiyev, a scientific researcher at the Department of History and Epigraphy.
Elchin Valiyev made a systematic and extensive report on the topic "History of Azerbaijan's statehood", the historical Azerbaijani lands, ancient statehood traditions of Azerbaijanis, the states existing on the territory of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani khanates, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, and the Independent Republic of Azerbaijan.
Then the floor was given to the senior research worker of the Department of History and Epigraphy, PhD Akif Mammadli. In his speech titled "The Status and Importance of the Study of Historical Monuments of Northwestern Azerbaijan", the speaker emphasized that special attention should be paid to the restoration and repair of historical monuments in the northwestern region, citing the fact that the law "On the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments" establishes the inviolability status of monuments and their preservation and transmission to future generations.
Then, the senior research worker of the Department of History and Epigraphy, PhD Aladdin Sultanov made a comprehensive report on the topic "Epigraphic Monuments of the Northwestern Region". The speaker stated that the manuscripts and stone inscriptions discovered in the region were involved in scientific research. He noted that these samples involved in the research are very interesting in terms of studying the public, political, social and religious life of the region.
