A scientific-practical conference on the topic "Classical Eastern Traditions in the Creativity of Seyid Azim Shirvani" was held on June 25, 2025, jointly organized by the Young Scientists and Specialists Council of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS and the City Library Branch of Balaken District MKS of the Sheki-Zagatala RMI, dedicated to the 190th anniversary of Seyid Azim Shirvani, was held at Balaken City Central Library.

Intellectuals and young people from Balaken and Zagatala districts participated in the conference.

Opening the event, the head of the City Library Branch of Balaken District MKS, Gulara Muradova, welcomed the guests and participants, expressed her pride and satisfaction that such an influential organization as Sheki RSC had chosen the library as a partner for the event, and thanked the director of Sheki RSC, PhD docent Yusif Shukurlu expressed his gratitude. He said that the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev on "Celebrating the 190th anniversary of Seyid Azim Shirvani" is an indicator of the value of our state to intellectuals.

Then the floor was given to Reyhan Manafova, Head of the Public Relations Department of Sheki RSC. In her speech, she emphasized that the heritage of our classics taking its rightful place in the spiritual treasury of the Azerbaijani people is directly related to the name of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, who made a fundamental turn in relation to our historical and cultural values, and noted that the event was important in terms of recognizing the classics and getting the younger generation acquainted with the educational issues that are of high value in their works, and wished success to the event.

The floor was given to the Deputy Director of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, Doctor of Philology, docent  Kamil Adishirinov.

In his report titled "Seyid Azim Shirvani: The Continuator of Tradition, the Creator of Innovation," Kamil Adishirinov, while talking about the stages of the development of our literature, drew attention to the fact that the literature of the 19th century is more contradictory and has an equally bright and rich historical significance. The speaker stated that the most complete information about the life of Seyid Azim Shirvani, facts that are not reflected in the history of literature, is found in the memoirs of the writer Aziza Jafarzadeh.

Kamil Adishirinov noted that the deep poetic ideas of the thinker poet Seyid Azim Shirvani, who rose above the rich cultural and spiritual wealth of the East and created extremely valuable pearls of the art of the word, are in harmony with his philosophical views, and said that his exceptionally significant literary heritage, which became a clear expression of the scientific and philosophical thought of the era, constitutes a special stage in the history of Azerbaijani literature with ancient roots and centuries-old traditions.

Then the floor was given to Akif Mammadli, a leading researcher of the Department of History, Archeology and Epigraphy of the Sheki RSC, PhD in History. In his speech on the topic "Seyid Azim Shirvani as a theologian and scholar", he presented the historical landscape of Azerbaijan in the 19th century and spoke about the religious and philosophical thought, courageous steps, and tragic fate of Seyid Azim Shirvani.

He noted that in the worldview of Seyid Azim Shirvani, who had a deep religious and philosophical mindset, religion is the basis of enlightenment, progress, and proper upbringing, but great mistakes are made in its propagation, which leads people to ignorance.

Speaking about "Seyid Azim Shirvani's enlightening views", Gulara Muradova, head of Balakan district Central Library, put forward the thesis that he was a true intellectual, justifying it with the facts that he took all the troubles of his people to heart and sacrificed his life for the enlightenment, enlightenment, and enlightenment of the nation.

Later, Balakan city intellectual Elsevar Ismayilov recited examples of Seyid Azim's ghazals, emphasizing that these ghazals ideally examine the human qualities of man, and that he makes sense of his path towards perfection in the unity of divine love and worldly love, raising them to a poetic level.

Tural Adishirinov, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Sheki Regional Scientific Center, made a speech and expressed his gratitude to the employees of the Balakan City Library Branch for their support in organizing the event and said that such cooperation would be continued in the future and sounded a ghazal from his work.

Speaking at the event, poet Adila Aslanova emphasized the importance of Seyid Azim Shirvani's life, work, and works in the development of literary and artistic thought not only in our country, but also among the examples of Eastern literature as a whole.

In the artistic part of the event, mughams sung on the ghazals of Seyid Azim Shirvani were listened to, and examples of the poet's ghazals were sung by young people.
