On June 13, 2025 the scientific seminar named “Journalistic activity of Uzeyir Hajibeyli “ who had unforgotten place in in the history of Azerbaijan culture was held in Sheki Regional Scientific Center.

The memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli and the sons of the Motherland who died for the territorial integrity of our lands was commemorated.

The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded.

Opening the event deputy director of Sheki RSC, PhD in philology, docent Kamil Adishirinov noted that, according to the Decree of the President of the Republic, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the 140th anniversary of the great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli is being celebrated at a high level throughout the country, and events are being organized in this direction, and noted that Uzeyir Hajibeyli, in addition to his compositional activities and contributions to our culture, has a rich journalistic heritage and gave the floor to Tural Adishirinov to speak on the topic "Uzeyir Hajibeyli and the press: the journalistic path."

Tural Adishirinov noted that Uzeyir Hajibeyli was active as a journalist in 1904-1920, and that he left an indelible mark on the press with his fiery articles dedicated to issues of science, progress, education, and upbringing in the newspapers "Kaspi", "Hayat", "Irshad", "Haqiqat", "Iqbal", "Yeni Iqbal", "Ittihad", "Azerbaijan", and in the magazines "Molla Nasreddin", "Mekteb". He emphasized that the publicist's editorial and journalistic activity in the newspaper "Azerbaijan" is considered an important stage in the history of the Azerbaijani press.

Then the floor was given to Tarana Abdullayeva, head of the department of Literary and cultural environment, folklore and ethnography. In her speech titled "The Art of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and His Pupils: The Phenomenon of Shafiga Akhundova," she spoke about the tumultuous life of Shafiga Akhundova, the first woman in the East to write an opera, who followed in the footsteps of the artistic ideal Uzeyir Hajibeyli, who laid the foundation of the national composition school, had her own style in the world of mugham and song, and shed light on the composer's memories of her teacher.

She noted that the author of more than 600 songs and romances, musical comedies, music composed for performances, and the opera "The Bride's Rock" are a clear example of Shafiga Akhundova being a phenomenal composer and a worthy student.

Head of the Department of Landscape Studies, PhD in Geology and Mineralogical Sciences, Huseyn Mustafabeyli, made a speech and emphasized that Uzeyir Hajibeyli was a great patriot. He noted that the unity of the Azerbaijani nation was created through music, and philosophy and ideology are weak in front of this spirit. The composer's heritage, which has a high moral and aesthetic value, mixed with the ideology of Azerbaijaniism, is an unparalleled means of educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism.

Huseyn Mustafabeyli added that Uzeyir Hajibeyli's music is a unique monument of art with both secular and national character, it is unlike any other music in world music because it has a completely national spirit, and the expression "will my black luck not wake up?" in the composer's opera "Leyli and Majnun" sounds as if the painful plea of the nation to God. Here, there is also elegance, creativity, aristocracy, subtlety, beauty, and high thoughtfulness, which are the main factors determining the complexity of the work.
