A seminar on the topic "Green tourism: environment and us" was held

On April 7, 2025, a seminar on the topic "Green tourism: environment and us" was held at Inche-Zunud village secondary school of Sheki region, organized by Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, with the aim of educating schoolchildren on the environment.

The seminar was attended by employees of the Department of Landscape Science and Ecological Geography of Sheki RSC, teachers and students of Inche-Zunud village secondary school.

The memory of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated.

Opening the event, the director of Inche-Zunud village secondary school, Amil Abdurahmanov, greeted the guests, expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the organization of the event, and gave the floor to the head of the Department of Ecological Geography of Sheki RSC, PhD in Geography. Gafgaz Agabalayev. Gafgaz Agabalayev introduced the employees of Sheki RSC to the participants of the event and wished success in the work of the event.

Then the floor was given to Khazar Bashirov, a research fellow at the Department of Ecological Geography. He spoke on the topic "The impact of green energy on ecological sustainability and future development opportunities", and provided students with extensive information about the modern demand for electricity, the decline in non-renewable energy resources, and the need to use alternative energy-renewable energy sources to eliminate the damage to nature in the process of their production.

Then, Murad Gahramanov, a research fellow at the Department of Landscape Studies, spoke on the topic "Changing climate, constant indifference". The speaker clarified important issues such as climate change that worries humanity, anthropogenic impacts on nature and biodiversity, and achieving ecological and economic stability in order to prevent pollution of the environment with industrial and household waste.

Then, Elvin Garayev, an employee of the Department of Ecological Geography of Sheki RSC, noted in his report "Factors determining Sheki tourism" that Sheki is of great importance in terms of tourism and provided information about places with tourism potential in Sheki.

The speaker noted that the foundation of ecological education work begins with preschool educational institutions and secondary schools. He drew attention to the importance of the main factors that determine ecotourism - the protection of plants, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, parks, as well as the cultivation, care and protection of plants in school areas.

The head of the Landscape Science Department of Sheki RSC, PhD in Geology Huseyn Mustafabeyli expressed his gratitude to the director of Inche-Zunud village secondary school for the support provided, and called on students not to be indifferent to nature, to treat it with care and attention.

Finally, the books published in 2024 by Sheki RSC were donated to the school library, a letter of thanks was presented to the director Amil Abdulrahmanov, and commemorative photos were taken.
