International Mother Language Day was declared by UNESCO in 1999 at the initiative of the Ambassador of Bangladesh.
Language is the main indicator of the existence of a nation, the most powerful tool that carries the function of protecting and transmitting its spiritual heritage and national-spiritual values. Our main task as a person and citizen is to know our language perfectly, to protect it and develop it.
The mother tongue plays a major role in increasing people's worldview, acquiring excellent education, being able to communicate, promoting the national-spiritual values of the people, and preserving national existence.
Perfect knowledge of the mother tongue increases the opportunity for every person to learn the languages of other peoples and get acquainted with their culture.
The state language of the Azerbaijani people is the Azerbaijani language. An example of the love of the national leader Heydar Aliyev for our people, his endless love and care for our language, and one of the important steps taken towards the protection and development of the native language and its transmission to future generations is the Law “On the State Language in the Republic of Azerbaijan” in 2002.
The Decree “On the Implementation of Mass Publications in the Azerbaijani Language with Latin Script” dated January 12, 2004, signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, is a manifestation of state support and care for the work to be done today and in the future towards the development of the native language.
Happy day, dear compatriots, faithful bearers and protectors of the Azerbaijani language.
