On May 7, 2024 A scientific –practical conference on “A green world and healthy landscape” was held jointly organized with Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS and Sheki City Chemistry-Biology-Oriented Republican Lyceum, with the participation of Sheki RSC employees, students and teachers of the lyceum.
First, the spirit of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who died for the integrity of our lands were commemorated with a minute of silence.
The event was opened by Elmir Mammadaliyev, director of the chemistry-biology-oriented republican high school of Sheki, and greeted the guests and participants and then gave the floor to Farhad Azizov.
Farhad Azizov thanked the management of the high school for the joint cooperation and spoke about the importance of the events held in connection with the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World". He noted that it is our duty to protect the environment. Farhad Azizov added that the issue of environmental protection is confirmed as a duty of each of us in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Then the floor was given to Murad Gahramanov, a scientific worker of the Landscape Science Department of Sheki RSC. Murad Gahramanov delivered a report on "Effect of urbanization problem on ecology". The speaker talked about important issues such as the causes of urbanization, balanced and unbalanced urbanization, urbanization process and its management, urbanization and ecological environment, human activity radically changing the original and potential landscapes of the earth. At the same time, he made suggestions for eliminating environmental problems caused by the impact of urbanization.
Later, the floor was given to Yusif Yusifli, a geography teacher of Sheki chemistry-biologically oriented republican high school. In his speech on the topic "Forest resources of Azerbaijan", the speaker gave information about the forest resources of our planet, including Azerbaijan. He also spoke about the declaration of the liberated lands as a green energy zone and the importance of holding the COP 29 conference in Azerbaijan.
Elvin Garayev, an employee of the Department of Environmental Geography, gave a speech entitled "The role of state-citizen cooperation in the formation of a clean environment". He spoke about the necessity of the role of the civil society in the field of environmental protection, and emphasized the importance of the active role of intellectuals in this field, along with state bodies, of carrying out educational work among the population.
Khazar Bashirov, a scientific worker of the Department of Ecological Geography, gave an extensive report on "Renewable and non-renewable energy sources". He spoke about the importance of energy in people's lives and how renewable technologies can contribute to energy security while achieving environmental goals at regional, national and global levels.
Then the students' questions about the topics were answered.
Elmir Mammadaliyev, director of Sheki chemistry-biology oriented republican high school, presented the Honorary Certificate for joint cooperation to Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS. The books published by Sheki RSC were donated to the library fund of the high school.
At the event, Nurana Atazadeh and Deniz Samadzadeh, 6th-grade students of Sheki chemistry-biology republican high school, were remembered for their interesting speeches. Also Zarifa Karimbeyli, Rasif Abdullayev performed poems from Huseyn Arif and Mammad Araz.
In the end, deputy director of Sheki RSC for scientific affairs, PhD on biology Farhad Azizov made his suggestions. After that, he was involved in various projects - cleaning and tree planting campaigns, cleaning of river beds, efficient use of water resources, etc. proposed to be implemented within the framework of joint cooperation with the high school.
