A round table on "Nakhchivan and Shaki theater: in the context of literary and cultural relations" was held in Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS

On April 24, 2024, in connection with the implementation of the decision No. 1/2 dated December 30, 2023 "On the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic" of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, organized by Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, "Nakhchivan and Sheki Theater": in the context of literary and cultural relations" a round table was held.

Employees of Sheki RSC, representatives of Sheki State Drama Theater took part in the event.

Sheki RSC's director, PhD on physics, docent Yusif Shukurlu spoke about the fact that a phenomenon like the national leader Haydar Aliyev considered the theater a sacred place, the high value he gave to the art of theater, the attention and care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the theater, and the leading researcher of the Department of Literary-Cultural Environment, Folklore and Ethnography, PhD on Philology, docent Kamil Adishirinov.

Kamil Adishirinov spoke on the topic "Nakhchivan and Shaki theater: literary and cultural relations". In his speech, the speaker talked about the history of Sheki and Nakhchivan theaters, and the literary and cultural relations between the theaters starting from the 1970s, based on materials obtained from scientific works and newspaper pages. He noted that the first example of theater relations between Nakhchivan and Sheki begins with the staging of Salam Gadirzade's "Novruzgulu khoruz khoruzyar" by Subhi Changarli under the title "Hardasan ay javanlig" in Sheki. Kamil Adishirinov added that as a continuation of Nakhchivan Shaki literary and cultural relations, K. Goldoni's "Innkeeper", Sophocles' "Elektra", H. Javid's "Azer", "Mother", J. Mammadguluzade's "Raisin Game" were performed in Sheki theater. Such works as "Assembly of Madmen" and "Kamancha" have been staged.

Later, the word was given to Lala Mammadova, head of the literary section of Sheki State Drama Theater. In her speech, the speaker gave extensive information about the current state of Shaki theater and the upcoming obligations. She noted that Shaki State Drama Theater hosted international theater festivals, the theater's employees went on tour in different countries and cities, and the director and cast members were awarded honorary titles and badges by order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Lala Mammadova also introduced the audience to the 2024 repertoire of the theater and invited the employees of Sheki RSC to the theater.

Rahim Hasanov, head of the Department of History, Archeology and Epigraphy of Sheki RSC, pointed out with facts that the historical and cultural relations of Nakhchivan Sheki are based on quite ancient history. He spoke about the fact that it was impossible to establish relations between Nakhchivan not only with Sheki, but also with other cities during the Soviet Russia, but as a result of the efforts of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, these relations were continued with great difficulty. The speaker also expressed his high appreciation of the repertoire of Sheki Drama Theater and the activities of the actors and wished them success.

After listening to the presented reports, Sheki RSC's deputy director for scientific affairs, PhD on biology Farhad Azizov stated that the literary and cultural relations between the theaters of Nakhchivan and Sheki are not satisfactory, and considered it appropriate to stage performances in the theaters of Sheki and Nakhchivan in order to expand and deepen these relations in the events planned for the 100th anniversary of Nakhchivan. Sheki suggested inviting the Nakhchivan theater to the festival to be held in connection with the 145th anniversary of the State Drama Theater and emphasized that this would be an important step in the expansion of cultural relations
