On February 26, 2024, an event was held at Sheki Regional Scientific Center in connection with the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy.

After the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, a minute's silence was held in memory of the great leader Haydar Aliyev, the victims of the Khojaly tragedy, as well as our compatriots who were martyred for the freedom and territorial integrity of our country.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, the director of Sheki RSC, Ph.D. on physics said that the people of Azerbaijan, who have shown their strength to the world today, will never forget their historical past and will move towards the future by learning from history.

Rahim Hasanov, head of the history, archeology and epigraphy department, started his speech with the words of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, "we must never forget the character of our enemy". Then "Who is an Armenian? Why did the Khojaly tragedy happen? What were our advantages and disadvantages?" gave a wide report on the questions. He said that the people of Azerbaijan are a humanistic, advanced, intellectual people, and during all periods of history, raising arms, torturing, killing any woman, child, innocent or disabled people was never written in the book of this nation. This is the most important fact that distinguishes us from our enemies, he added.

Later, he noted that Khojaly was selected for its important geostrategic position and attracted attention. He also emphasized that Khojaly is one of the regions with a rich history in addition to its strategic position. He pointed out that the important archaeological monuments of Azerbaijani culture occupy a special place in the history of this area, and one of the goals of the genocide carried out by Armenians here was to wipe out the culture belonging to Azerbaijanis.

At the end of his speech, he drew attention to the power of the "Iron Fist" operation to bring our enemies to their knees and push the world to recognize the territorial integrity of the country called Azerbaijan.

The dear memory of the victims of Khojaly genocide was commemorated with a minute of silence in the country at 17:00.
