Employees of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS participated in the discussion of the "Tourism Development Plan"

On February 12-14, 2024, a meeting with industry representatives was held and discussions were held to prepare the "Tourism Development Plan" organized by Sheki Destination Management Organization and the Tourism Information Center. It should be noted that the main goal of the strategy document called "Destination Development Plan", which includes the current state of tourism and future directions of development by State Tourism Agency and Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau, is to direct the activities of regional tourism offices in the next 5 years.

According to the information given by Farhad Azizov to shrem.az- deputy director on scientific affairs of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, PhD on biology, the meeting was attended by Don Taylor, a project expert of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Aida Bayramova, a local tourism expert of the tourism development project of the United Nations Development Program in Azerbaijan, employees of Sheki Regional Scientific Center - deputy director for scientific affairs, PhD on biology Farhad Azizov and Aygun Ismayilova, scientific worker of the Department of Ecological Geography, Vugar Abbasov, head of Sheki Regional Tourism Department, Kamran Mammadov, Efendi Mahir, director of Gakh region History and Local History Museum, Badraddin Hasratov, head of the Honey House - Beekeeping Complex, Lakit village, Gakh region, Badraddin Hasratov, head of the Ilisu State Historical and Cultural Reserve director Azer Gocayev, general director of "Khanland Extreme" Entertainment Center Tahir Muradov and many tourism subjects participated.

At the meeting, deputy director of scientific affairs of Sheki RSC of ANAS PhD in biology Farhad Azizov gave a speech. He spoke about the need for important steps in stimulating the development of tourism in the north-western region, the application of clustering in tourism and the strengthening of logistics activities in accordance with the paradigm of rural tourism, the study and application of international experiences in tourism, especially the importance of preparing and presenting prices and tourism products suitable for the foreign market conjuncture. Farhad Azizov also emphasized the importance of adding a number of world and national monuments of Sheki, Gakh, Zagatala and Balakan, new tourist recreation zones to the presented clusters.

Aygun Ismayilova, a scientific worker of the Department of Ecological Geography, who participated in the meeting, pointed out in her speech that the creation of recreation and treatment facilities based on existing recreational resources, mineral and thermal waters in the territory of Gakh region is important from the point of view of the health of the population, and at the same time, she noted that this step will play a positive role in solving the unemployment problem.

It was stated that the submitted proposals have been accepted and will be taken into account in the strategy document called "Destination Development Plan".
