The listening of annual reports continued at Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS

On November 16, 2023, the annual reports of the scientific staff of "Literary-cultural environment, folklore and ethnography" and "History, archeology and epigraphy" departments of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS for the year 2023 were listened. First, the leading researcher of "Literary-cultural environment, folklore and ethnography" department, PhD in philology, docent Ulduz Murshudova's report on the work "Research of national traditions in the folklore examples (rituals, ceremonies, customs) of the northwestern region of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Sheki region)" presents the results obtained during the study of rituals, ceremonies and customs carried out in the city and villages of Sheki.

Leading researcher of "Literary-cultural environment, folklore and ethnography" department, PhD in philology, docent Kamil Adishirinov's report on "Research of national traditions in folklore examples (weddings: toasts, applause and blessings) of the northwestern region of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Sheki district)" was listened. Based on the content, the results obtained from the study of toasts, applause and blessings used in wedding ceremonies of Shaki, which reflect the life and family relations of the people of the region, were noted.

Junior researcher of "Literary-cultural environment, folklore and ethnography" department Tural Adishirinov’s report was listened on the work "Research of national traditions in folklore examples (seasonal and household ceremonies) of the northwestern region of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Sheki region)". He presented the important results obtained from the comparative analysis using materials and manuscript samples, as well as scientific literature, obtained from the expeditions conducted in Sheki region and various villages.

 Then Tarana Abdullayeva, researcher of "Literary-cultural environment, folklore and ethnography" department, gave a report on the work "Research of national traditions in folklore examples (mourning ceremonies) of the northwestern region of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Sheki region)". She presented the important results obtained from the study of the examples of mourning, applause, faith, belief, condolence, consolation, blessing, cursing.

Later, the report of "History, archeology and epigraphy" department was listened. First, Akif Mammadli, senior researcher of the department, PhD in History was listened on "Collection and research of materials about folk dwellings in Balakan region and its villages". In the report, Akif Mammadli's detailed information about the exterior and interior of the 19th century residential houses located in the Balakan region and surrounding villages, their comparative analysis with modern houses, and the obtained innovations were reflected in the form of important results.

Aladdin Sultanov, scientific worker of "History, archeology and epigraphy" department, was listened to the report on "Collection and research of historical and ethnographic archival documents and manuscripts of Balakan region". It contains 30 manuscripts that reflect the notes of the region's imams and veterans about public life in inscriptions written in the Arabic language and alphabet of the 19th-20th centuries, which were obtained from tombs, tombstones, mosques located in the territory of Balakan region and 24 villages, as well as from residential houses in the said areas provided information about the research conducted based on it and presented important scientific results.

Scientific worker of "History, Archeology and Epigraphy" department Elshan Abdurahmanov’s report, was listened on the work "Conducting archaeological research in the direction of research and study of the heritage of the Albanian temple in the region". Elshan Abdurahmanov said that as a result of the archaeological excavations conducted in Bash Shabalid village of Sheki district, it was determined for the first time that Yaloylutepe culture (III-I centuries BC) was spread in the territory of the said village. He noted that the discovery of ancient earth graves and early medieval Christian graves in this area proves that the area was an ancient and early medieval settlement.

Aigul Khalilova, junior researcher of "History, Archeology and Epigraphy" department, in her report on "Research of national costumes and ornaments in the Balakan region and its villages" found ancient jewelry, traditional women's ornaments, ancient national costumes, tailoring, men's clothing, of the peoples living in the said region and brought to attention the results obtained during the study of issues such as handicraft production.

Ulkar Sarkarova, junior researcher of "History, Archeology and Epigraphy" department, in her report on "Research of Ethnographic Materials on Folk Ceremonies and Holidays in Balakan Region and its Villages" based on the materials collected from Balakan Region and 24 villages, wedding ceremonies - gizbeyam, embassy, engagement, wedding invitation, she presented the results of the research on meat day, bridegroom's praise, bride's departure, revealed, mourning ceremonies and holidays.

Employees of both departments said that the obtained important scientific results were published in various local and international scientific journals.
