On August 10 –September 25, 2023, in order to preserve local varieties, the employees of Sheki Regional Scientific Center "Biodiversity of Plants and Gene Fund" department picked up fruits from backyards in the villages of Qashgachay, Armudlu, Embarchay. In the nursery area of Genofond garden of SRSC, "T"-shaped planting of apples, pears and plums was carried out. Ilgar Seyidov, the chief agronomist of the department, said that the transplanting of seedlings to the fields will begin a year later. He noted that seedlings obtained by this method are more resistant to diseases. He emphasized that the main goal in this work is to prevent the destruction of local varieties.
