      Asia-Pacific Ocean VI Congress on Sericulture and Insect Biotechnology that held by The International Sericultural Commission was organized in India, Maysore which called “City of palaces” on March 2-4, 2019. In the congress the delegations more than 200 participated from 30 countries of the world. APSERI-2019 is an international forum that dedicated to modern information about sericulture, silkworm, cocoon and so on, improvements on science and technology field, investigations on gene and nanoparticles and opportunities for future. It’s proud that, for the first time Azerbaijan participated in this reliable event and our three-color flag waved among main “Silk states” flags such as India, Japan, China, France and so on.

      At the ceremony the reports about sericulture history, today and future perspectives of several countries were listened. The performance of the director of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences dr. Y.Shukurlu was listened. In the report Azerbaijan’s being ancient sericulture land, located on Silk road, existing sericulture areas such as Sheki, Basgal, Shamakhi, and Ganja were delivered to participants. The participants were listened information about Sheki silk combinate, Goychay factory that is the biggest silkworm egg producer in Caucasia and so on. It was noted that, in the 90s there was crisis in the field of sericulture. The orator stressed state Program for 2018-2025 years about cocoon and sericulture production in the Azerbaijan Republic with the order dated November 2017 for defeating the crisis and returning previous splendor of Azerbaijan sericulture and informed the events which organized by Sheki Regional Scientific Center. The participants of congress have gotten acquainted with Kelagai which is included to Intangible Cultural Heritage List of UNESCO in 2014.  

 

       The participants were acquainted with scientific work on the theme of “Changing amino acid composition in the hemolymph of mulberry silkworm adding salicylaldimine to the given feed” (Shukurlu Y.H., Shukurova Z.Y.), the theme was discussed and adopted for including to the scientific collection of the conference.  

 

        Delegation staff of SRSC visited Maysore Central Silk Studies and Teaching Institute with the invitation of Dr. R.S. Teotia. During the visit, a meeting was held between Dr. Shukurlu and Dr. Teotia. The discussion was held between Scientific Center and Maysore Central Silk Studies and Teaching Institute for the future.
