AZERTAC reports that President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician Isa Habibbeyli, spoke about this during a panel session held in Heydar Aliyev Center.
The academician noted that the alphabet is not only a writing system, but also an important factor expressing the national and spiritual existence, intellectual memory and cultural identity of the people.
According to him, Azerbaijan was one of the first Turkic states to switch to the Latin script alphabet during the period of independence, and this step gave a significant impetus to the integration processes in the Turkic world.
Isa Habibbeyli said that the common alphabet will serve to further expand the common scientific space, a single information environment and cultural ties.
