The next meeting of Scientific Councile of Sheki Regional Scientific Center was held

On May 20, 2026, the 2nd meeting of the Scientific Council of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS was held.

The meeting was attended by 12 members of the Scientific Council, heads of departments, and scientific workers.

The meeting commemorated the memory of the Ph.D. in Physics, docent Yusif Shukurlu with a minute of silence.

First, the acting director of Sheki RSC, Dr. of Philology, docent Kamil Adishirinov, introduced the members of the Scientific Council to the issues on the agenda, and the agenda was put to a vote and adopted.

A number of important issues on the agenda were discussed at the meeting.

Scientific Secretary Vafa Atayeva provided information about the decisions of the Presidium of ANAS No. 1/1 dated February 25, 2026, No. 10/23, 10/24, 10/25 dated March 12, 2026, as well as No. 11/1 and 11/4 dated April 30, 2026.

Speaking about the measures to be taken at Sheki Regional Scientific Center in line with the implementation of the decisions, she said that the establishment of scientific, scientific-organizational activities in accordance with modern requirements, the promotion of scientific results, the expansion of international cooperation relations and the encouragement of young researchers to scientific activity are among the main priority areas. She also brought to attention that specific tasks have been determined for the relevant departments in order to implement the adopted decisions.

It was decided to strengthen the activities in the mentioned priority areas, and specific tasks have been set for the implementation of the decisions and the relevant departments of Sheki Regional Scientific Center have been instructed to implement them.

Then, the Head of the Human Resources Department Ulviyya Osmanova brought to attention the information about the decision No. 8/5 of the Presidium of ANAS dated February 3, 2026 on the amendments made to the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the tasks facing ANAS in this regard.

The meeting also discussed issues related to the implementation of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the People's Poet Samad Vurgun” dated February 23, 2026. In this regard, the Head of the Literary and Cultural Environment and Folklore department, Doctor of Philology Irada Yusifova provided information about the action plan prepared on the basis of the decision No. 10/3 of the Presidium of ANAS dated March 12, 2026.

After the discussions, the Department of Literary and Cultural Environment and Folklore was entrusted with the supervision of the implementation of the organizational work of the event to be held in June at Sheki RSC on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Samad Vurgun.

Namig Abdurahmanov, Head of the Department of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, spoke about the decisions taken on the unified action plan of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the “New Digital Architecture of Azerbaijan”, as well as the “Action Plan for Accelerating Digital Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2028” and the tasks facing ANAS.

The Scientific Council adopted a decision to entrust the implementation of measures to strengthen activities in the direction of digitalization and artificial intelligence, as well as expand cooperation in the field of digital development and innovation to the relevant department.

In the current affairs section, the “Applied Geography” program prepared by PhD in Geology and Min. Huseyn Mustafabeyli for the preparation of bachelors of universities was presented and permission was granted to print it.

The meeting also discussed the issue of holding a joint event with Sheki branch of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Azerbaijani scientist, literary critic and critic Yashar Garayev. Reyhan Manafova, Head of the Public Relations Department of Sheki RSC, provided information on the topic.

According to the decision of the Scientific Council, it was considered appropriate to hold a scientific and practical conference dedicated to this topic in November 2026. In this regard, relevant departments were given relevant instructions for organizing the conference, preparing the program, etc.
