Employees of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS conducted ecological research in Gakh

Employees of the department of Ecological Geography of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS — head of the department, PhD in Geography Qafqaz Agabalayev, scientific workers Agil Mustafayev and Aygun Ismayilova, as well as employee of the department Elvin Garayev conducted complex ecological and geographical research in the areas of Gum, Armudlu and Gachgachay villages of Gakh region on April 27.

As part of the research, measurements were carried out in river beds, new measurement points were determined for hydrological observations. At the same time, water samples were taken from two different points for the purpose of conducting hydroecological analyses and submitted to the Ecological Biophysics Department of the Center.

During monitoring, data on the economic activities of the local population were collected in order to assess anthropogenic impacts.

In addition, a preliminary assessment of the tourism and recreation potential of the region was carried out, and relevant statistical indicators were systematized.

As part of the monitoring, a meeting was held with the management and teaching staff of the Gum village secondary school, and scientific discussions were held on the historical and geographical features of the region and the formation of the local landscape.
