On March 31, 2026, the employees of Ecological Geography Department of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS - head of the department, PhD in geography Qafqaz Agabalayev, research worker Agil Mustafayev and research worker of the Landscape Science Department Murad Gahramanov conducted monitoring studies in the Kish River basin.

As a result of the observations, it was determined that due to intensive precipitation, there was an increase in the amount of sediment in the river bed, as well as deep erosion (washing) processes in separate areas.

According to Qafqaz Agabalayev, no flood events were recorded in the Kish River at the current stage due to the accumulation of snow cover in the high mountainous areas that form the source part of the river.
