A scientific-practical conference dedicated to March 27 "Science Day" was held in Gakh

On April 8, 2025, the next traditional, reporting scientific-practical conference dedicated to March 27 - "Science Day" and the 80th anniversary of ANAS was held at Heydar Aliyev Center of Gakh District, organized by Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS.

Representatives of Gakh district community and the media attended the conference.

First, an exhibition reflecting the scientific and scientific organizational activities of Sheki RSC was reviewed.

The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and the memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the sons of the Motherland who gave their lives for the integrity of our lands was commemorated.

Opening the conference, Deputy Head of Gakh District Executive Power, Head of the Department of Socio-Political and Humanitarian Issues, Vafa Heydarova, greeted the guests and wished success to the event. He noted that the development of science in Azerbaijan has reached the highest stage as a result of the attention and care of the Great Leader, the eternal leader Heydar Aliyev. The disclosure of scientific achievements, the assessment of the work of scientists are connected precisely with the name of this brilliant personality. He drew attention to the fact that the head of the country, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, who successfully and in his own way continues this policy, has shown loyalty to the political line of the great leader and hasn’t spared his care for science, scientists, and education.

In his speech, the general director of Sheki RSC, PhD in physics, associate professor Yusif Shukurlu greeted the conference participants and expressed his deep gratitude to the head of Gakh District Executive Power, Musa Shekiliyev, and the director of Gakh District Heydar Aliyev Center, Arzu Dunusova, for creating the conditions for the organization of the conference.

The director noted that March 27 was established as "Science Day" in Azerbaijan and congratulated scientists and intellectuals on their professional holiday.

Yusif Shukurlu said that as a result of the initiative and efforts of the head of state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, holding a major conference like COP 29 in our country indicates Azerbaijan's current prestige, strength, and development trend, and that scientists bear responsibility for this.

Associate Professor Sheki RSC brought to attention that this is the second time in the history of the organization that a report has been given to the general public and that this tradition will continue in the region.

Then, the report of the heads of departments on the research conducted by 8 scientific research departments of Sheki RSC for 2024 and new scientific results was heard.

Professor Firadun Ibrahimov, senior research fellow of the Department of History, Archaeology and Epigraphy of Sheki RSC, began his speech with the words of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev: "The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences is the national wealth of the people. We must preserve it." He noted that the national leader, who deeply understood the value of science and scientists, was confident that the preservation of the academy would play an indispensable role in the future development of Azerbaijan. Today, the orientation of young people to science and the rejuvenation of science are the result of the far-sighted policy of the great leader. The rejuvenation of science confirms itself as one of the factors determining the continuous existence of ANAS and its constituent institutions.

The professor confidently emphasized that behind every sentence and every line read in the reports presented at the conference, there is a thousand and one sufferings of human understanding, and that the future existence of those who contributed to science with hard work will be ensured in the person of the scientists who come after them.

In conclusion, Arzu Dunusova, Director of Gakh District Heydar Aliyev Center, expressed her satisfaction with hosting such a report conference with a deep scientific load, and wished the employees of ANAS and its scientific institutions great success and new scientific achievements.
