Shrem.az reports with reference to the science.gov.az website that on July 19, 2023, a national scientific conference on "Heydar Aliyev’s Language policy and modern problems of the mother tongue" was held at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences under the organization of the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi.

The president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli, director of the Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, academician Nizami Jafarov, representatives of the Institute of Linguistics, as well as scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS participated in the event.  

Academician Isa Habibbayli, president of ANAS, who opened the conference with his opening speech, said that within the framework of the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" in our country and abroad, including the organization of the Humanities and Social Sciences departments of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the rich legacy of the Great Leader, his state and people of Azerbaijan A series of events are held dedicated to their unparalleled services. The President of ANAS noted that the multifaceted activities of the National Leader are conveyed to the public and young generations at the mentioned events, and at the same time deep researches and scientific results are made on the large-scale legacy of the Great Leader.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that in order to study and promote the life and activities of the Great Leader, as well as the rich political heritage of the Great Leader within the framework of the "Year of Heydar Aliyev", the publication of 21 books is envisaged in the Action Plan of ANAS said that this indicator will increase during the year. He emphasized that the presented new publications are research works that reflect a fundamental scientific approach to the unique multifaceted activity of an eminent statesman, based on comparisons and analyses, and are an expression of respect and reverence of our scientists for the historical services of the Great Leader.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that international events were also held within the framework of the "Year of Heydar Aliyev", and at the Special meeting of the General Assembly of ANAS held on May 1 of this year, the Academies of Sciences of Turkey, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Ataturk Institute of Culture, Language and History, Asian Academies and He said that the leaders of the Association of Scientific Societies participated, and the rich legacy of the genius leader was conveyed to the international community.

Touching on the importance of today's conference, the head of ANAS said that the Great Leader paid special attention to the protection of our mother tongue even during the strict prohibitions of the Soviet government, and it was as a result of his efforts that the Azerbaijani language was reflected as the state language in the Constitution of the Azerbaijan SSR adopted in 1978.      

He also noted that in the first Constitution of independent Azerbaijan prepared under the leadership of the Great Leader, special attention was paid to the article about the mother tongue, the Azerbaijani language was established as the state language, and the Law "On the State Language in the Republic of Azerbaijan" was adopted.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli, who said that the state language policy founded by the National Leader has been successfully developed by President Ilham Aliyev, pointed out that a series of steps have been taken to protect the purity of our mother tongue, a number of documents have been signed, and the State Language Commission and Terminology Commission are operating. At the same time, he emphasized that the views expressed by the head of state in his programmatic speech on the 70th anniversary of ANAS regarding the preservation of the purity of our mother tongue are among the priority areas of the Institute of Linguistics today.     

At the conference, the director general of the Institute of Linguistics, professor Nadir Mammadli and the director of the Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, academician Nizami Jafarov spoke about the services of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the direction of protecting our mother tongue, the steps he took in this direction, the current problems of our mother tongue in the modern era and their solutions.

In the event, including Ph.D., Assoc. Baba Maharramli's "Historical significance of the decrees and decrees adopted on language during the reign of Heydar Aliyev", Ph.D on philology, doc. Aynel Mashadiyeva's "Everlasting Nationwide Leader", Professor Ismayil Mammadli's "Heydar Aliyev's visionary statehood, management and language policy are the basis of our victory", Professor Sayali Sadighova's "Heydar Aliyev and language development", Ph.D. Ilhami Jafarsoy's reports on "Heydar Aliyev and our language history", Professor Habib Zarbaliyev's "Issues of translation of Heydar Aliyev's speeches and speeches into Indonesian and Malay" and Professor Ilham Tahirov's "Linguostatistical and functional analysis of Heydar Aliyev's swearing-in speeches" were listened.
