On March 11, 2022, a scientific seminar was held in the Institute of Biophysics of ANAS on "Genotyping analysis of clinically significant mutations of the GALT gene" dedicated to "Science Day" in hybrid format.

The seminar was organized by the Molecular Oncology Laboratory of the National Oncology Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Laboratory of Molecular and Cell Oncology of the Institute of Biophysics of ANAS.

A scientific researcher of "Ecological Biophysics" department of Sheki RSC of ANAS Vafa Atayeva took part in the event.

The method of detection of clinically significant mutations in the GALT (galactose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase) gene, the patient contingent to be analyzed and the medical institutions were discussed at the seminar. At the same time, the development of a kit and an appropriate protocol to be used as a screening method, including the design of primers, selection of PCR-method mode, agarose-gel electrophoresis and detection of expected fragments were presented. In addition, one of the “CANCER PANEL”s used in the treatment of a certain group of patients has already been presented at the seminar.
