On October 27, 2023, the director of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, Ph.D. on physics, doc. Yusif Shukurlu is 75 years old.

Şukurlu Yusif Hajibala was born on October 27, 1948 in Bash Shabalid village of Sheki district of Azerbaijan. In 1954-1958, he studied at the elementary school of the village where he was born. He continued his education at secondary school No. 1 of Bash Goynuk village, Sheki district, and after graduating from that school in 1965, he entered the Faculty of Physics of ASU. After graduating from high school in 1971, he was assigned to teach physics, mathematics and chemistry at Tola village eight-year school and Gabala Correspondence Middle School. In 1973-1974, he worked as the deputy director of educational affairs of that school.

From August 1974, he worked as a physics teacher at Technical Vocational School No. 43 of Sheki city, and in 1975, he entered the post-graduate course of the Institute of Physics of the Azerbaijan SA, under the condition of not leaving the industry. In November 1975, he was hired as a laboratory assistant in Sheki Scientific Base under SA Physics Institute of SSR, and then continued his work as a junior researcher. By the decision of the Presidium of the Academy, in September 1977, he was transferred to the Institute of Radiation Problems of SA of Azerbaijan, he was promoted from junior researcher to the position of senior researcher.

On January 24, 1984, at the meeting of the Specialized Council of Azerbaijan State University (K-0540311), he defended his candidate's thesis on "The effect of selenium on the molecular and ultramolecular structure of fibroin" and received the scientific degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. In 1990-2008, he headed the "Biophysics" laboratory of Sheki Regional Scientific Center.

In 1992-1996 he was a senior teacher, substitute associate professor at Sheki branch of BSU, in 2002 he was a substitute associate professor at the Department of Natural Sciences and Teaching Methodology of Shaki branch of the Azerbaijan Teachers' Institute, in 2008-2014 he was the "Natural Sciences and "Methodology of their teaching", he first worked as an associate professor and then as the head of the department.

Yusif Shukurlu was appointed as the director of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS by the decision of the Presidium of ANAS on October 15, 2014. At the same time, he regulates the scientific activity of the laboratory of the "Biophysics" laboratory of Sheki Regional Scientific Center.

Yusif Shukurlu is the author of a total of 95 scientific articles published in our republic and abroad, as well as 11 scientific articles published in journals abstracted and indexed in international databases, 9 authorship certificates and 5 patents, the monograph "Structural Proteins", and the textbook "Light Dispersion". He is the scientific supervisor of two doctoral students.

Yusif Shukurlu is a talented poet and writer who is engaged not only in scientific activity, but also in artistic activity. He is a member of Azerbaijan Writers' Union since 2007. The author of two fiction books, Yusif Shukurlu's couplets, poems, ghazals, rubai, as well as novels, narratives and stories reflect the infinity of the poetic fantasy of not only a writer and poet, but also a scientist. The author's science fiction novel "Seven" is based on the Cosmopaleocontact theory. The work is based on an important issue such as the formation of people on the planet Earth. The second book called "Pink Jacket" contains poems and stories of the author.
